My Dream Ten

Do you agree? Who are your choices? And why are Zoanette (Crazy) and Curtis (Weirdo) so . . .ewwww??

Sound off in the comments. And come back later for my thoughts on who REALLY made it in the top 20.

Oh, heavenly voice. Fans, REJOICE!

Yes, I went there. This girl has one of the most talented voices in the business. Now add that beautiful voice with talented writing AND a soul so tortured -- and you get Demi Lovato.

Lovato can pump out hits like Give Your Heart A Break, just like a pop star should. But what makes her likable and real, is the passion in her voice. Not everyone can put their pain into the recording studio. In songs like Skyscraper, you can literally feel her soul. If you can't, well . . . you probably don't have a soul.

She's a motivational, gorgeous, and talented lady who's coming out with a new album soon. In the midst of the buzz around that new album she has officially released her first single, Heart Attack. With the single, she has also released a Lyrics Video. Floating all around the lyrics in the YouTube video, which has already had 3.6 million + views after just coming out today, are popular tags from Lovatics (affectionate name of Demi's fans) twitter posts. She's one of the few entertainers that really make her fans feel like they're apart of her and her journey, as evident from her tweets and the lyrics video.

The first verse of Heart Attack doesn't seem like Demi's typical writing, which may be due to the fact that quite a few people co-wrote the song along with her. However, once the chorus hits, the song is MAGIC. Her voice soars, while still being radio ready. The writing get's better as the song goes along as well. As I read and listened to the lyrics, I automatically started feeling it and getting memories of a guy who the song reminded me of. This song is clearly a very good insight into what an amazing album she has created and I cannot wait to hear the rest of her songs.

Check out the song below and tell me your thoughts in the comments section!

Xtina decides to have some fun with Bionic

Remember back when I started this blog? Yes, before I took that long break because my life is so crazy busy (playing games on Facebook counts as a busy life right?). And I said I was going to buy Christina's Bionic album? Oh yea, I bought it... I bought the heck out of it. (Ummm... I don't know either).

It seems Christina always has a theme with her album and she sticks to it. She tries different sounds and I can appreciate that. It's been four long years and it seems Aguilera was looking to have some fun on Bionic! The album is different from anything I've heard lately and though I enjoy most of the songs, there are a couple I could have done without.

Elastic Love and Sex For Breakfast were two songs that were just too "WTF"-ish for me. I think it's the lyrics I can't get past. I'm all about the lyrics when it comes to music and those songs are quite annoying when it comes to the words. If the lyrics were better I would actually like Elastic Love because of the beat and futuristic sound. And I would like Sex For Breakfast because it reminds me of her album Stripped. It's very soulful, her voice is beautiful, and it's naughty in a way that's not too dirty by the way she sings it. But some of the lyrics are pretty stupid---"When the morning comes, I know I will too". Really, that's the best she could do? She has plenty of naughty songs on her older albums (When You Put Your Hands on Me, Get Mine Get Yours, Nasty Naughty Boy, to name a few) and they at least had lyrics that weren't just plain retarded. Yea, I went there.

With those negatives aside, Bionic as a whole is really great. It may take a few listens before you realize it's greatness, but once you do, you'll realize how fun it is! WooHoo, Vanity, I Hate Boys, Prima Donna, and her lead single Not Myself Tonight are good work out, dancing like a fool, or blasting/singing loudly to in the car songs. My Girls is a fun anthem for the ladies and Desnudate is another song that sounds like it came off the Stripped album, with the chorus partly in Spanish.

The slow songs are classic Christina- where her voice really shines and is at it's best. Of all her slow songs, though they're all fantastic, I Am is just out of this world. Not only does she show a side of her voice we have yet to hear, but the lyrics are amazing. In fact, I can't stop quoting it on my Facebook. I think almost every woman can relate to the song... so basically- download it now!

Her deluxe album has a few extra songs including Bobblehead which is catchy and, again, really fun! Birds of Prey is a slower tempo song, reminiscence of Madonna (Frozen). Also, Stronger Than Ever shows the side of her voice she introduced with I Am but gets intense in the chorus. It's nice that there's more than one song with that sound. And--- the last song on her deluxe album is a "stripped' version of I Am. Guess she knows which song on her album people really love!

I think all the smack talk everyone's been doing has been quite out of hand. Christina is one of a kind and her music is fun and beautiful. People love to start drama, but ignore the haters, give the album a chance, and decide for yourself.

Video OTW: Work It Girl!

The Video of the Week is:

Miley Cyrus-
Can't Be Tamed Official Music Video

Say what you want haters, but Miley Cyrus is extremely talented. Yea, I went there. Her new music video is fun, naughty, dark, and cool. She's showing that she's grown up, and her fans are growing up too. If parents think she's a bad influence, then turn off your televisions and change the radio stations. She's 17 years old, not exactly an adult, but I'm sure being in the business your whole life makes you grow up pretty fast. I've seen a lot of 17 year olds do worse things than this. She may be channeling some Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, but at least she pulls it off. And has the voice to back it all up.

The Song of The Week is:

Mandy Moore-
I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week

Moore grows musically with every album she releases, and her album Amanda Leigh is no different. Her single I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week is so catchy and really fun. I'm surprised it doesn't have much radio play, which is actually a major reason I chose it as Song OTW. If you haven't heard the song yet, you need to, it will make your day.

Mandy Moore started off with Pop Music, but it's evident that if she had a choice, she would have been making Folk Music from the beginning. But she's moved along nicely, proving that Folk Music is her home.

I've always been a big fan, even in her Bubblegum Pop days. Her album Coverage is one of my favorites of all time, where she covers some of the biggest 70's and 80's hits, yet still makes it all her own. She's an amazing actress, singer, writer, performer, and person. Check out the song (otw) and video. But watch out, it will get stuck in your head :)

Video OTW

This week is super special because it's the first week I'm doing my OTW's!!! Monday was Website OTW and Tuesday was Song OTW, so if you missed out on those, check 'em out!

I've decided that Wednesdays are going to be Video of the week, and to kick off the first ever video, I found an amazing video of someone who is so freakin' talented. Yes, I am totally jealous of this girl. This girl who is five years YOUNGER than me. So. Not. Fair! But, all is well, because even though I am not her *sigh* I can still enjoy the talent she shares with the world :)

The Video OTW is:

Demi Lovato's cover of Christina Aguilera's Mercy on Me

How adorable is it when she says she's going to mess up in the beginning of the video? Pssh, with a voice like that, I'd be shocked to all hell if she messed up.

I'm not going to lie, I was surprised that she has the vocal range of Christina and pulled off that song. I think what happens is that I put Christina on this extremely high pedestal assuming no one can truly sing like her. But, holy crow, here comes Demi Lovato with a vocal range that can match Christina freakin' Aguilera's! Insanity I say!

If you don't believe the words I'm writing, then watch this video. Then afterward, listen to the original by Aguilera herself. Now, this isn't the best quality video, probably because there was no mic, so it's a little hard to hear the quieter parts of the vocal, but those high notes--- damnnnn girl. I also saw a video someone put together of live performances by both of these artists, showing them hitting the same notes, and it was pretty amazing. YouTube it if you still need further proof.

And while you're on YouTube, check out more of Demi's live performances. She may be a Disney star, but she is a true performer and artist! Of course Christina is way more seasoned in the industry and has more hits then Demi could hope for at this stage of her own career. But at 17 and with that voice, it's evident that she has a very long successful career ahead of her.

Check out her acting chops on the Disney Channel, Sunday nights, on Sonny with a Chance. (She's really quite funny) And, she has a guest appearance on Greys Anatomy very soon, (I'm not sure of the date yet) but I can say I am so stoked for her episode. Plus, she's playing a schizophrenic, which is a whole lot different than her character Sonny. If she pulls off this role, then there won't be anything this girl can't do. (Yea, I already said it, but I'll say it again-- I am sooo jealous!)

Save The Date

images via google images

Oh, Christina- The voice, the lyrics, the music, the videos, how I've missed you so! Never to disappoint, Christina Aguilera's new album is sure to satisfy true music fanatics. Talent is talent, and Christina has proven again and again that she is one of the most talented entertainers in the business. And, thank the heavens above, after 4 years, Christina is releasing a brand new, full album, Bionic.

She's always changing, but yet stays true to herself. From her self titled freshman album to her greatest hits album (it did have new songs, so of course I've included it) she has showcased her amazing vocal range and her amazing lyrical skills. Yes, Genie in a Bottle was so pop it hurts, but she's proven that she can do anything. She's one of the lucky artists who was able to grow and take control of the songs she wanted to record and release. And through all the controversy over the years, she never stopped doing what she loved and what she felt was right for her.

Although Stripped is my favorite albums from Christina, and I don't see her outdoing the genius that was Stripped with the direction she seems to be going, I know that I will love her album either way. If you're a huge fan like I am, and like to support the artists you honestly believe in, get the album Bionic when it drops June 8, 2010!

It is what it is...

Here it goes---

I have a lot of opinions. On relationships, friends, family, celebrities, fashion, music, and so on. And this is where I'm going to combine it all. It may be a bit... random. But that's who I am and that's what I do. So welcome, to Elle.Marie
